Ever since I got the iPhone X (on launch day) I have been wondering about forced acces to my iPhone X.
Let imagine this scenario: Law Enforcment, a TSA Agent (or even during a stick up/robbery) can just snag you phone hold it in front of your face and ask “is this you phone?” As anyone would react to such a question subconsciously and look at the phone. After all even according to Apple - looking at you phone is the most natural thing. One could also say ‘ Look, there is a crack on you screen or your display has the green line problem. In any such instances people would look at their phone and it would unlock. In hacking it’s called “phishing” and I believe it to be very simple on the X to trick someone to look at their phone and gain access.. It’s simple Human psychology. So, somebody could acces your phone without you physically touching it and gain access to your phone. I know in most cases that ould be harmless, but the fact still remains acces has been gained without my specific permission. In engineering and cyber security I call this most certainly call this a flaw, no question about it.
Also Law enforcment could rightly claim they did not force you but nearly inquire if this is you phone.
The phone would reconize me and unlock even if I don’t want it to.
Am I missing something or did my rights and privacy just got a huge hit?

You are aware of the buttons to hold that disable either Touch ID or Face ID if you’re in either of those situations, right?

But as already posted, if you don’t give your phone attention (IE deliberate eye contact), it won’t unlock.

Right. RTFM

Unless you are currently a criminal or terrorist, you have nothing to fear.

And by the time society collapses into a dystopian police state where innocent citizens are regularly incarcerated (which won’t be until at least next year), there will be a new iPhone that comes with a pairing ring. The phone will go into “OH NO COPS!” mode and disable Face ID when the phone and the owner’s ring are more than 2 inches apart.

Sleep tight.
