Face ID and Notifications

So when I get texts and iMessages, I get notifications that say "text message" from Contact A and "iMessage" from Contact B. Then after Face ID works, it shows the contents of the text and iMessage. Is there a way to turn that off so I can just read messages from the lock screen?

Yes. Go to Settings, Notifications, Show Previews, and select Always. Don't know why you needed to create a thread just for this.
