Unfortunately FaceID is not able to unlock my phone when I am wearing mine.
’m having the same exact experience with the same exact sunglasses. While it’s not ideal. It hasn’t gotten to the point of annoying for me. But it is strange how other (sun)glasses polarized or not work. It seems just to be the Wayfarers

Yes maybe the grade of plastic used to manufacture the lenses or some proprietary costing they apply that interferes with the IR mapping of the face I’m guessing.

I’m in the same boat. I’ll leave attention awareness on for now since I don’t wear my wayfarers often.

I do not have RayBan’s but I do have the attention required setting off and FaceID has worked like a champ with my polarized glass Maui Jims, and two pairs of aviators that take up a big part of my face (Gucci polycarbonate polarized and Kate Spade polycarbonate non-polarized); even with a toque on.

I have a few pairs of sunglasses so I am curious to see if any of them prevent it from working. Maybe I will have to go to Sunglass Hut just to try it with Wayfarers!

Didn’t work while I had cake in my face :(

Need more details! Lol. Jk.

Depending on the amount of cake plastered on your face, it isn’t surprising FaceID didn’t work.

Most sunglasses have uv coating so will be the same with any decent sunglasses

Do you think UV coating interferes with the IR needed for FaceID to work?

Mine only works part of the time. I have noticed why it doesn’t work when it doesn’t work, though. If I am driving with my sunglasses on, I have too many reflections on my sunglasses looking out the windshield. If I hold the phone down by my center console and look down at it, it will unlock just fine. However, if I hold it up and I am still looking out the windshield, It will not work at all. Mind you, I am not actually driving, but this I have done in drive-through’s while waiting and it works.

Same with being outdoors in sunlight, too many reflections apparently gives it issues. If I wear my Ray Bans indoors then it has no problem.

I performed my original face scan without glasses, worked perfectly put on my "reading glasses", worked just as well - put on sunglasses (very dark or reflective), didn't work, but just had to disable 'Attention'. This was all 20 minutes after opening my X, and since then, FID has been incredibly accurate.

Side note: since we're talking about FID and having your face partially obscured - the other night, I put up a hood, kind of pulled it down around my face, put a bandana around my neck and pulled it up to the midway point of my mount and it still worked incredibly well. Pulling it over my top lip (or higher) and it didn't but at that point, my face was about 75% covered, so I wouldn't expect it to.

I had problems with non-polarized Ray Ban Wayfarers working with the Face ID but then switched to polarized Wayfarers and had no issues whatsoever

I have Polarized OG Ray-Ban Wayferers, not the "New Wayferers", in gloss black with black lenses and face ID works every time for me.
