Face ID works all the time. It works with a hood, it works with a hat, it works with glasses, without glasses, with sunglasses, with a hat a hood and glasses.. it works in bed, it works at night, it works in a chair, in a car, on the bus..

When I set it up, I did the first scan without glasses, and the second scan with glasses. Maybe that’s the difference? I’m happy with it.

I agree with you, my FaceID is great too! Barely ever failed on me. I set it up with glasses on for both rounds, but still works flawlessly without them. It learns your face over time!

It works only some times when I just woke up in bed, but I hope it is learning and will improve over time.

I was at work today and was showing my boss my new phone. We both have white goatees as we are both in our 60's. I showed him Face ID, and the phone opened right up for him. I closed the phone and he tried again, and got right in. secure you say, I think not.

I did both my original scans without any glasses on. Doesn't matter as far as I can tell, it works perfectly when I have no glasses, reading glasses, my polarized sunglasses, etc. Even worked when I was yawning, haha.

Flawless? Ehh I wouldn’t say all of that.

But I am enjoying the hell out of the phone. Had it for a little over 24 hours. I’m more impressed with the display/battery life

Mine is not unfortunately. I setup my face id with my bangs from my hair that goes to my eyebrows. Once I pulled my bangs back with a hair clip and tried to use face id it wouldn't work. I tried over and over. It won't work like that. It works when I wear sunglasses but for some reason my hair throws it off.

It would have worked better if the hair was pulled back / glasses off etc so it can just learn the face.

Once calibrated adding a different hair style, glasses, even a hoodie, worked.

Just happy I wouldn't have to shave a beard off first. :)

Try setting it up again with your hair up. Or, try first pass hair up and second pass hair down. One set up mine works in all conditions so far.

I think its awesome that you and your boss are both 60+ and still working. This is not the culture in Asia...so props to USA.

This is a joke right, who in the hell wants to be working at 60. The American system has a lot of faults an this definitely is one.

I’m curious that if you use FaceID for sometimes (a month or so) will it gonna be unlock withyou boss face again ? Since it can learn you face over time it should be more accurate right ?

I disagree on Face ID being anywhere near flawless.

It's a mixed bag for me. For the most part it works id say about 80% of the time. There are times when it just won't work, I'm not in the sun or standing in a weird place and sometimes it just won't work. But after I put my code in it works fine in the same exact place, annoying to be honest!

It's kind of iffy for me, seems to fail maybe 1 in 5 times. I've tried to re-register using different angles, but no go. Sometimes it just takes a while to recognize me, other times it flat out fails to recognize me at all and asks for a code. Even when it does work it still takes longer than touch ID.

But I do love the technology and look forward to them improving it. I thought I'd miss touch ID, I do but not as badly as I thought I would.
