Like hey Siri function that is "always listening," will the front camera always be on/active when face ID is turned on? Sure maybe I'm being a little paranoid but I hate functions that are always "on."

My guess would be it might function like lift to wake does where it's only activated when the motion sensors are triggered and it thinks it's facing up or vertically. Then it might do a pass using whatever sensor (IR, camera, or other) consumes the least power to see if it thinks there's a face in front of it before turning on more power hungry sensors. Just a guess though.
They didn't actually demonstrate that. I bet flat on a table doesn't work.

[doublepost=1505328322][/doublepost]My assumption is it only turns on when you lift (raise to wake), or when you tap on the screen. Basically it starts working when the display lights up.
i'm assuming since it has the IR camera and front camera that it's using the IR camera to capture? so the camera to take photos is not always on? my assumption.
