"Face ID, at least in the brief demos I got, worked one of two ways: amazingly fast, or not at all. It won't work if your phone's flat on a table, either—you'll have to pick up and look at your phone every time you want to unlock it. I suspect a lot of people will just go back to having numerical passcodes."

Wow. If that is true then we got a really interesting newscycle ahead of us in November.

guess we need more reviews and hopefully with time it improved but this does sound far slower than touch ID and even slower than the iris scanner on the samsung devices

This seems to be verified by this video:

Note at 1:33 the Apple rep notes "by holding the device like this [turned slightly back] the iPhone obviously can't see my face"

Yes. Yes we do!

I suspect it will work better for some and not others. Touch ID is the same thing. For the majority of people it works most excellently.

One thing I read, though, is face ID can only work with one person. My wife and I share phones and have our prints on both. Makes it harder for the kids to try to get out access codes. Makes me go hmmm
