Cool thanks any ideas why they done this I must have missed this In the summer preview?Settings -> Notifcations -> Show Previews (At top) set to Always (if you want to see all your messages and info on lock screen without having to use faceID to unlock).
I can’t use my phone in my pocket because I can’t see the screen.

[doublepost=1538076746][/doublepost]Perhaps disabling Face ID will make the phone more pocket friendly?
Disabling FaceID is an option but you would end up using a pass code each time.
You can fix the notification thing, maybe give the phone a bit more time. I did not like FaceID at first either but have to admit it is now way better for me. if not Apple still offers iPhones with TouchID.
Yes I can look into my pocket and see the screen useful at work or busy places don’t want to flash an expensive phone aroundI can’t use my phone in my pocket because I can’t see the screen.
If you like to operate your phone in your pocket Face ID slows things down compared to the last IPhone 8. Texts don’t show in ios12 either unless you open the phone.
How do you operate your phone in your pocket?
Quite easy as it’s touch screen everything like Facebook easily clickable
if you are playing with your phone in your pocket, it most likely appears as if you are scratching your balls. If you like to operate your phone in your pocket Face ID slows things down compared to the last IPhone 8. Texts don’t show in ios12 either unless you open the phone.
So if you get a notification at work, school, in a meeting, with a friend looking over your shoulder they can't read what's been sent. It's a great feature and you're definitely in an extremely small minority for not liking it. You have to realize that less than 1% of users are looking at their phone in their pocket. Apple designs features for the majority, not people with one-off weird fringe cases.Cool thanks any ideas why they done this I must have missed this In the summer preview?
For most, Face ID blows Touch ID out of the water.Everyone knows FaceID is inferior to TouchID for lots of scenarios and more convenient in a few. But it's a general trend of the iPhone experience that the hardware may be getting more powerful, but the experience definitely is getting worse every year.
I HATE that FaceID doesn't work in sunlight
Phones have shown the texts on screen since like phones began. So if you get a notification at work, school, in a meeting, with a friend looking over your shoulder they can't read what's been sent. But you still need to see the screen, right? How can you do that if the phone is buried in your pocket?
I always carry my iPhone X in my pocket and I don't see an issue. I guess I can kind of see if you are pulling the phone out of your pocket and rest your finger on the TouchID while pulling it out and having it on the home screen already before you look at it. Texts are hidden, but as soon as i look at the screen, FaceID recognizes me and shows me the content. It kind of seems to me like the phone just knows when I need it to be unlocked and just does it. However, I HATE that FaceID doesn't work in sunlight. That's the only time i ever really wish there was TouchID as a backup option.
