Anyone having issues with Face ID taking longer than normal to unlock your phone or apps? My IPhone XR’s Face ID is no longer working at the moment.

Have you rebooted? If so have you tried resetting FaceId?

Do you still have the problem? Face ID stopped working for me on an iPhone X a month or so ago. Nothing I do can bring it back. The camera is fine. Apple customer service says to buy a new phone...

I have an XS and my FaceID just stopped working. I rebooted the phone. That did not help. I updated to iOS 13.6.1, and that did not help. I tried to reset FaceID and that did not work. While trying to reset FaceID, the on-screen instructions kept saying lower iPhone, then raise iPhone, and then the process would just time out and say FaceID is not available.

I once faced the same issue a couple of months back, and seeing all your responses, I do feel that I am fortunate to have resolved the issue. For me, a hard reset and software update did the trick. This problem might also arise in case of situations where the iPhone has not been unlocked for 2 days or more. Did you check for any voice activate lock commands that have forced the device to lock? This is all I know of and am pleased to share my thoughts here! Cheers guys!

I had considered a hard reset and probably should have tried that. Yet, after FaceID stopped working, the far right side of the screen close to the edge has become non-responsive to touch. For example, in portrait mode, I cannot tap on the letter “l” and the backspace takes a few taps before it does anything. Any apps with buttons in this zone are not responsive.

On my 11 Pro, just had a scare like this. Previously had Face ID stop working on XS and had a warranty replacement, but this time on the 11 Pro it stopped working all of a sudden a day or two after update to iOS 14 with "Face ID not available" error. Apple Support had me turn on/off the phone and reset Face ID which seemed to solve the problem.

But what was really frightening is I noticed something that looked like condensation in the front facing camera lens. How does this happen? Does it indicate water has gotten inside, or is it just a big temperature change?
