Hopefully never. Useless expensive feature for a laptop that will be locked and unlocked a few times a day at most vs dozens for a phone...

(ps generally rMBP is the shorthand for the 2012-2015 generation as that was its defining feature - now there’s no need to differentiate as they are all retina so just MBP is fine - or TB MBP if you want to specifically reference the current design cycle)

I mean cmon guys why can't we have it on the rMBP if we can have it on iPhone,iPad why can't we have it on the rMBP ? is it not Apple's dream project to have Face Id across all its devices ? I mean one pays a helluva lot money to own an Apple product especially if you are not in Europe and U.S so you might aswell make it so niche, so swanky, so Extra-Terrestial that it stands out to be one of its own kind in its league ! It should give the owner a feeling and an experience of nothing less than a Ferrari Car !! Which makes the owner of the product have sleepless nights because of being awestruck ! lol !!

I think the FaceID camera and sensor assembly won't fit in the lid. There's TouchID on the Touch bar enabled laptops.

It seems like a more obvious feature for the iMac.

Windows has Hello, I see no reason why MBP's can't have FaceID. Also Apple can remove the ability to set a password on those MBP's and thus discourage sharing computers. Many small workshops which use a single workstation over multiple shifts will then be forced to buy multiple Pro machines increasing revenue.
