Face ID works great almost in any place. It even works with big imax glasess on the movie theater.
After using the iPhone X for more than 2 weeks I never miss touch ID. The only times I don't like face id is when you are drinking or touching your face, you have to remember to stop doing that to use your iPhone X.
The glasess of imax are bigger than normal and even you can't view others eyes the iPhone X have no issue unlocking the phone.
