Forgive my lack of knowledge here, Google has given me no help either. I'm about to get an iPad Pro 12.9. I've got the hang of Face ID on my 11 Pro Max but I'll never be using this iPad in anything but landscape mode. It's basically my expensive portable television to be sincere.

Can you set up Face ID for landscape?

Do I set it up under landscape or as portrait? Or do you have to set up in portrait and it just works in landscape?

It sets up in portrait but works in both. Not as good as iPhone imo, you have to be closer if its on a desk and doesn't seem to be as good in dark either.
Wouldn't go back to a home button though.

I have owned or own an iPhone X, iPhone 11 Pro and the iPad Pro 11 and don’t have much issues using Face ID in the dark tbh. About the same success rate among all of them.

I guess it would make a bigger difference on the brightness level right? In that case, it'll be okay. I need it bright to watch shows.

I use my iPad 95% of the time in landscape and I almost never have an issue with Face ID. I either have it on a pillow stand in my lap or on a stand on my counter.

Face ID works via infrared, so it doesn't matter how bright or dark the room is.

Yeah, mine will be on my bed. So it won't be an exceptionally large distance to my face.
