but summer goes until September 21 i'm afraid...

My uneducated guess will be fall along side a new iPhone as this is when the focus of the world is on Apple. Also around this time we can expect Facebook integration with OS X Mountain Lion.

These things seem to tie very well into each other.

It says in the article:

According to Bilton, the new and improved Facebook app should be released next month.

So, if that holds true, then by July 31st 11:59:59pm PT.

I've just downloaded the new update. First impressions, it seems a lot smoother then the old app. Also like the way when your view photo's, you can swipe down to close the photo.

Nice, I just noticed it. I have been waiting forever. Downloading now.

Time will tell, but so far it seems like a big improvement over the last app. I guess that wouldn't be too hard though haha.

I agree. After the update installed, my newsfeed with any pictures attached to them loaded up right away. Also just going on different friend's pages was pretty fast as well. This update was long overdue, but I'm impressed so far.

Photo issues on FB update

Can anyone assist? With newest FB update, I am unable to save or email photos being viewed on FB on my iPad and iPhone. Removed FB app and reinstalled. Problem not resolved.
