I know Clubhouse is the leader, but Stationhead is a good radio station-type app. Anyone can create their own station and talk or stream songs using the user's Spotify or Apple Music subscription.

Sure, I'm right there with you, but nevertheless: billions of WhatsApp users don't have a problem with that at all...
WhatsApp audio (and video/text) is end-to-end encrypted. No one at WhatsApp or Facebook can listen to anything or even use it for ads.

How can Facebook compete with Clubhouse when the app isn't even for public use and by invite only ?

I remember simpler times in February, when Clubhouse was the new thing , everyone was hyping it as the new social media giant that is about to change how people consume content and make podcasts thing of the past, until May came around, they started to develop Android version and I totally forgot that this app existed. Turns out, nobody uses it anymore. Well, not literally NOBODY, but like 15x less people then in the winter.
That's what I was thinking, I didn't believe Clubhouse was still relevant. I recently heard a creator decline an invite offer from someone because they didn't think it was worth their effort and/or time. All the hype was pushed by celebs and other creators back at time of release, but being invite-only isn't enough of a feature imo.

Haha…I was about to say the same thing. Companies need to stop caving to the pressure of wallstreet and maximizing EPS. Focus on your core competencies…don’t become a conglomerate like Samsung

Whatever Apple’s plans with self-driving vehicles, it has nothing to do with EPS, as an R and D expense, it produces zero revenue. Thus, all it has been doing, and will for several years, is reducing EPS. Indeed, if all Apple cared about was EPS and Wall Street “pressure,” they would be more focused on short term profits, reducing expenses, etc.

By putting time, money and resources into long term projects like self-driving cars, that’s the opposite of caving to EPS pressures for immediate and short term profits.

I don’t see the appeal of Clubhouse or the likes. It’s like podcasting but others are talking too?
I am probably to old as I don’t see much use of the other SoMe.

I don't think this is true. Facebook wants to know everything about everyone's private business on this planet, so it sticks its hands/tentacles in everything. So this is definitely in line with its identity.
It’s not that this isn’t true, but Facebook definitely isn’t in, say, the content subscription business, despite the valuable info they could gain from it. Facebook is heavily dependent on user generated content, almost exclusively. Facebook doesn’t compete with services like Netflix, heck, they don’t compete with Apple News, even though a News access and subscription service would be an obvious move for them. It would allow more power for shaping news stories on the platform as well as ingratiate their publishing partners to them even more.

I really do think Facebook is trying to find some sort of corporate identity outside of social media (they definitely want to avoid becoming the next MySpace). But it is hilarious to see them floundering to build any real influence outside of social media and online messaging. Sure, Oculus is a thing, but VR still isn’t mainstream video gaming, and VR games are still in their own niche. You don’t see AAA games embracing VR experiences the way they embrace a new Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo console. And Oculus is really Facebook’s only experience in doing anything other than user generated content delivery.
