Perhaps this means they'll reduce all the telemetry garbage their apps are performing that obliterates battery life?
This is why I have deleted the app from my phone - occasionally will login to the mobile version from Safari but not often.

I'll admit, I didn't read the full article, but my gut is telling me they're just revamping the privacy for what other users might see, not what they collect.

As far GDPR, that seems to be an EU thing, which does nothing for the rest of the world. If you think Facebook will do more than just the bare minimum they're legally required for each jurisdiction you're sadly mistaken.

Anything to remind users of the importance of privacy is good in my book.
Facebook is facing a meltdown. Many of its staff already recognize the toxic platform they created. Facebook has been used as a vehicle for spreading radicalism and extremism for a while, and they did exactly nothing.

With pressure from regulators, and Facebook themselves being cornered by advertisers, I hope people realize that they should move out of the platform. The problem right now is not because people want to use Facebook, it's because so many people are too lazy to use anything else other than Facebook despite their piss poor mobile apps.

To anybody that has a Facebook account, I posit that you can improve your life measurably simply by deleting it.

You may slow down the data collection on you by leaving but if family and friends still use it and mention you at locations or events or post pictures with you in them you are still being categorized and targeted.

That's why you have to tell others to delete it too...
