I hate using Facebook webpage on my iPad, but am I missing something?
My problem is mainly the scrolling, obviously when browsing your friends it does not scroll like on a computer, so now I don't browse A's much unless I know exactly who I feel like talking too. Same when writing emails, so I can't go up and correct things in my emails. It's driving me crazy for something so simple. I really hope it's me, I would prefer using the site over an app.
Can someone tell me is it me, or everyone? Some setting I need to choose?

Thanks for any help if I'm messing up.

Also I know facebook has been a topic here, and I did search, but could not find any talking about this subject.

I now this sounds dirty but... You have to use two fingers. It seems to be the same for most websites that open a small frame with scrolling.

[quickly covers eyes] That is dirty! Shame on you. I like my forums (and my fingers) nice and clean...

So why are we still waiting for that facebook app? I had high hopes. Website's good but I'm curious to see what the app will be like.

Yeah. It's bad that we've had to wait so long; it seems such an obvious thing to do.

I'm not a big facebook user but I do check the newsfeed once or twice a day and, even though it's a native iPhone app blown up to full screen, I still use the Facebook iPhone app in preference to the web site. A proper iPad version would be great.

iPad version, you mean. Yeah, and that's exactly why...You prefer a crappy pixelated blow up over the real thing. Which says there's a need and preference for a Fb catered to the "app-minded". :)

Put two fingers on the friends-list frame and scroll.

It takes some getting used to so you don't just zoom instead.

Works for text entry boxes too.

Somewhat off-topic but Mark said that Facebook are working on an iPad app.

I did mean iPad. I've edited in the correction. Thanks.

This whole "app-minded" thing has given me pause for thought recently. I'd never been near an Apple iPhone OS (now iOS) device until I got my iPad a few weeks ago and I'd done everything web-related in my browser plus email as well. I now discover that I really have become one of those app-minded people. Frankly, the speed of my conversion has taken me a bit by surprise, it happened within hours of first using my iPad rather than days let alone weeks.

Yeah, I remember that. That's why I said we're still waiting. It seems like that was well over a month ago.

I don't know a lot about app development, but I feel that there's sometimes more ability for efficiency in apps, than on the web. Less limitations, more potential. But that's just my guess.

I agree. One critical issue (in my opinion) is that an app developer can assume a fixed and unchanging screen size and so can carefully lay out the elements in the user interface, in a browser the UI designer can't know what the initial screen size will be or guarantee that the user won't change it (unless fixed-size popups are used which in general is considered not a friendly thing to do). I think that this aspect alone contributes a lot to the benefit of an app vs just another page/tab in a browser.

Truly is extremely stupid how FB app has not been up and running yet... before iPad was released I was under the impression FB would be first to have their app on there.

I just use the site. It does the job fine on the iPad. The iPhone and ipod touch is where the app comes in handy. The main problem is Facebook using the code for the friends list. You could do the two fingers or you could tap and hold over the friends link and open a new page and your friends will be listed on a page and not on a hover over box.

At least Facebook still have developers working on the iPhone app. They published an update today but sadly not one that made it a universal app with native iPad support.
