A friend has come to me with an asus T100TA convertible.
windows 10, Atom x2 1.33GHz cpu, 2gb ram and 32GB ssd, plus 500GB HDD in the keyboard dock.

If he tried to start a facebook video chat, BSOD is the result and machine reboots.

If someone tried to video call them, it says that they are not reachable.
There is a message that says "you missed a call with xxxx"

they are using edge browser.

they failed to give me there login (i understand that) so waiting see them again to try the messenger app or an alternative browser.

Hey man, can you download BlueScreenView and screenshot the result? Highlight the BSOD and send a number of screenshots.

I suspect the issue is driver related, possibly webcam. IIRC this machine didn't ship with Win 10 so probably something outdated following the update/clean install. Could you also press Win + R, devmgmt.msc, then go to the webcam >right click, properties, details, then copy the hardware IDs and paste them here too?

Thank you!

It shipped with windows 8.

try start a call and in windows ten it asks for permission to use cam and mic.
Click always allow or only once, same result:

Stop Code: attempted to execute on nonexecute memory

hope this means something...

Whoops sorry didn't see your reply, forgot to follow this thread.

What was the 0x00 error code?

no error 0x00 given.
Will need a program to see if an error code is given but not shown.
No code shown on BSOD only the error message as above.

But solved the crashing by using the FB apps for windows ten.

but it seems the camera is not ten compatible.
been doing some digging on the asus forum for these machines and almost everyone once upgraded to ten camera stopped working.

Asus has abandoned the unit now :(

other apps throw up error: Camera cannot be detected please make sure camera is connected

as it internal it is connected and shows in device manager with ISP 2400 driver.

Download BlueScreenView: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/bluescreenview/

That will show the code, can you screenshot what it says?

Not sure it'll do much good though as it does sound like drivers. The camera can't be detected, if the OEM hasn't got 10 drivers for it then nothing you can do really.

bluescreen view gives lots of codes of:
bug checkcode: 0x000000fc
NT Kernel & System
ntoskrnl.exe

aye, drivers. Not much more you can do other than try and get a newer driver, but since the OEM don't support W10 you'll have to roll back to 8.1 if you can't find one. Sorry :(

That model does support windows 10, did you download the win10 drivers from the asus support site?

yes downloaded ATK from asus which is supposed to be ten drivers.

webcam driver is in the ATK package.

windows 10 32bit IS on drop down list.

Well the only way forward was wipe and reinstall windows 8.1

all working now.

This machine is replacing his windows vista toshiba that seen better days! bust hinge etc.

So I installed classic shell now windows 8.1 looks like vista and he happy again.
