Looks like someone at Facebook is going to be getting fired for leaking private communications from the companies internal company private messaging system.

All this will do is stop Facebook employees from talking openly and honestly about something because they will fear that it will be leaked to the media.

This is far from the first time employees at Facebook have leaked internal messages, memos, etc. Most of the out-of-touch comments by Zuckerberg and others we know about were from leaks. Facebook has quite a leaky ship.

Apple are no saints. Appeasing China by compromising their security and having iCloud servers in China is a risk to everybody. That being said, Facebook is a lying creepy company that is becoming increasingly censorious and political.

However, none of us would be talking about this either if it wasn't for Apple :) proof is there

Perhaps Apple should have not done a thing... Users would be well quiet... No Facebook arguments... because no argument exists..

Knowingly/or unknowingly, Apple caused it by bringing it to light.. What did they think would happen ? These companies make money by tracking..They won't just ignore it/regardless of the fact they could jus "Allow"

There is always bound to be some issues.

Hope for those employees, none of those "private" boards are the Facebook version of private...

When I was growing up the job people where often mocked for having (or were embarrassed to admit to) was being an estate agent. I personally would never want to have to admit that I worked at Facebook.
These boards get leaked all the time. The "are we the baddies" meme is probably commonly used in every tech company, including where I work, which I'm not disclosing. It's not Facebook, since I rejected their offer, not because they're bad but because they don't do anything interesting. What even is their business now, acquiring and integrating smaller companies?

Facebook's own employees roasted their own company better than we ever could.

Also, I'm super against this idea that small businesses are more important than an individual having a choice over their privacy. In normal situations, heck yeah! Let's support small businesses! But am I going to root for a business that exploits data and privacy of others? Absolutely not. I hope they do fail if they need to do that to survive.
It's similar to the typical "think of the jobs" thing. Trying to argue against basically anything by showing that someone innocent will indirectly lose out. FB works with small businesses, so anything that harms FB harms them at first.

"Don't wish ill on video games; they create jobs!" "You want to cut <some govt branch> spending? But people will lose jobs!" "Coal supports thousands of jobs." Guess what, nothing is constant.

Sorry I’m late folks. But I am compelled to chime in to every one of these Facebook threads at some point just to point out “**** facebook.”

I just can't accept an ad business model that targets and manipulates people the way Facebook and Google are doing.
Even Google are way ahead in this area - they allow you to disable data collection and ad personalisation across their services and allow you to view the ad profile they have built around you based on your online behaviour.

What Facebook has employees? I thought they were all replaced by AI by now... if they do have employees they must all be foreigners since they clearly don't care about the 1st amendment and censor everything left right and center...

"community standards" is the new orwellian word for "we censor everything that doesn't fit the agenda"

On second thought, perhaps it's the AI that's rebelling...

I loathe facebook as much as the next guy, but the first amendment has nothing to do with this. The first amendment limits only what *government* can do about speech, and says nothing about what companies or people can do re: preventing speech.

In fact, forcing Facebook to allow speech on its platform that Facebook does not like would, itself, be a violation of the first amendment.

A comment against the absurd demand: no one in that company is ever going to just come clean when concealment is the most efficacious element of their dirty laundry business model. Facebook is a castle with a corrupt royal court surrounded by a moat of lawyers and an army of PR soldiers using velvet words as its weaponry.

The vibe of Facebook in a nutshell:
"We didn't not not say that we didn't say that."
