The app seems to be having an issue this morning, when you try to log in, the app says it's unavailable after typing in your password.

It's quite puzzling the amount of different people fow whom it does and does not work for. For myself, the limited amount of time spent on my pad has been pleasent with no real issues appart from the camera "take a pic" glitch.

Makes me really wonder if iPad do actually have the same hardware across each model of if parts are sought by different manufacturers in an attempt to meet sales but at the cost of slight inconsistencies?

I do not have chat on mine, I have an ipad 1. I have seen a few videos on how to use the app, it says to swipe left on newsfeed page, well when i do that, nothing, i have deleted the app once and re installed it but still nothing. Does anyone else have this problem?

Until FB stops doing things like pinning top stories in the news feeds I'll happily use a 3rd party app where the UI designers aren't telling me what I want to read first. Unlike the website, I can't figure out how to unpin top stories, and I've pretty much stopped using the website because I'm tired of having to do that.

Go to News Feed and turn your iPad horizontally (landscape)

Love it! Haven't figured out how to upload items from Photos, but for the most part, it does every thing that the desktop version does except Flash games. And the best part??? NO ADS!!!!!!!

It is awesome! Finally facebook also the new 4.0 version for iphone/ipod touch is great to. Long time since facebook has been good.

Anyone have iOS 5 GM on their iPad and using this? I have found that if you use the split keyboard layout, you can't "send" anything. The Send button is missing on chat and other areas.

Other than that, it's working great for me. Looks good, get photos in my feed, youtube links play, I can 'like' comments.

I can not share a link though, but the other FaceBook for iPad app I was using didn't let me do that, so I would have never thought about it if it wasn't mentioned previously.

edit: I really like that I can pinch when viewing a photo in an album and it takes me back to the album, just like the photo app.

You swipe left to reveal chat.

Am I the only one that absolutely LOVES the "swipe-for-menubar" gesture?

I feel like this should become the standard for operating systems, browsers, etc.. It is beautifully implemented in Dolphin Web Browser (in fact, it is the only reason I use dolphin browser) and I was extremely excited to see it in the facebook app.

I love having things fullscreen, but hate how fullscreen can limit functionality.

Love it. The rest of the app is whatever, I don't really use facebook enough to be excited about anything but the swipey bar.

Unfortunately, Facebook doesn't push any notifications eventhough the option is on. When someone's sends me a message, boxcar app notifies me, but not Facebook.

Just "unsplit" the keyboard and drag it to the bottom. You'll see the send button appear.

Can anyone tell me if they stay logged in after closing the app?
I have to log in EVERY time I use the damn thing.

I just sent this to Facebook.

"The iPad app could be so much better in ease of use. Seriously, after all this time, it's not great.

News feed, profile, and friends all need to be links up beside notifications and messages. I don't know why friend requests is up there, I mean who gets more friend requests then needing to check the news feed. I don't understand, why it's easier to get to your friend requests than your actual friends list. *

You need to be able to get to chat at ANY time, by swiping left. And from chat, you should be able to get to the persons profile.

Come on Facebook, I know you're not Apple, but someone working at Facebook must of realised it takes more steps to get to news feed and friends than friend requests. Do you not test ease of use? The sliding right and left is good, and pinching but quicker access to friends profiles and the news feed would be better."

Doesn't seem like a very effective letter. Polite and professional tends to get more attention. Basic things like please and thank you. This just sounds like an attack that likely went directly to the bit bucket. If you had penned a more polite, professional response someone might have paid more attention.

Personally, I'm pretty happy with the new app.

I've been looking for input on this: has anyone been able to view a movie from Vimeo with the iPad Facebook app? I haven't been able to get any clip to play unless I open the link in safari. It seems to work from m.facebook.com on iPad, just not within the app.

IMO, the only thing this brings, which is superior to the full site in Safari, is chat and notifications.
Usage is a bit hit and miss, with comment and swiping the chat window. It doesn't feel iPad optimised, morelike a generic app for all tablets.

My main FB usage will be via the full site.

I hate it. It crashes almost every time I try to comment on a photo and trying to comment on a status with the split keyboard is quite a hassle; the send button disappears so after you finish typing your response you have to merge and dock the keyboard and only then will the send button re-appear. It's extremely annoying.
