Same here. I'm not exactly sure why we need a Facebook device/phone. I'm just content with the actual app.

We don't need it but Facebook needs to figure out how to monetize mobile. Ads will be all over this thing soon enough.

But can you tweet from it?

I like the idea of easily continuing conversations. That idea, in some form, will probably come to ios sooner or later.

So for all you saying FB is not the old thing and all the youngens you know are on it 24/7, I'll ask this simple question, where are you located?

I'm from the midwest here in MN and we're super slow to adopt. Coasts are always the first. Heck, ever here in northern MN I'm seeing everyone starting to migrate to Twitter or Instagram. I'm only 27 and I know plenty of people who are in college because we have a few colleges and 2 major universities with about 15 minutes of each other. So from what I'm hearing and seeing, Twitter & Instagram is the pairing choice. Sure they have activity on FB, but it's because they've linked their accounts to duplicate whatever is said (Twitter) or shown (Instagram) or heck, I'm seeing a huge uptick of Vine in the last 2 weeks. Personally I'm getting out of social media because I think it's a crock of ****.

1. Biggest time wasting of all time. Far surpassing TV a long time ago
2. You're friends don't give a crap about you.
3. It's the most self centered place in the world, especially FB.

I disagree with everything you've said. :(

My 15 year old niece is on it 24/7
My friends who are from 20s to 40s are on it 24/7

I still wouldn't recommend Facebook Home to anyone as it's a waste of time and productivity (data mining security/privacy issues aside)

My two boys don't use it at all. Other people I know don't use it or use it sparingly. Just pointing out that there are differences among different people.

----------

"I found that, with Home, I paid more attention than ever to my news feed, Liked items more often and used Facebook's Messenger service more often."

He says that like it's a good thing.

Seriously, kids don't use facebook anymore.

It's either twitter, instagram or snapchat... not facebook.
What can I say... I wish you were right? ;)

----------

As opposed to all the other existing "deep Facebook integration" that Apple is trying to use to increase the feature-set of iOS?

Uh... I'm fairly sure that he's among those who didn't like Apple's integration either. This was a pretty widely complained about feature.

That is facebook's only and only serious problem. How to stay relevant.

Instagram, they already bought. Snapchat... really people use that? Twitter sure, twitter seems to age much less than FB - Twitter is kind of always relevant no matter what.

I get bored from FB at times and don't touch it for a week or so, other times I use it as a news source similar to Twitter.

Facebook messaging is retarded - I really don't see why I should use that crappy UI and the limited functionality when I have email. Especially now with Mailbox. Email has never been better.

I also use FB for posting and looking at photos. So basically Instagram.

The entire rest of FB is just retarded.

5 devices only?!?!? Is that all where that facebook thing will be available to? I am not fanboy and I wouldn't mind to swap to some android phone but for now I don't want to worry if app which I want will/not be available to my phone. That just shows how ****ed up android is when comes to programming.
When comes to good smartphone only two things are important those days: how smooth and friendly OS is, and how many apps are available to me. Hardware is got nothing to do with it (as appearance since all of them look like iphone) anymore as we can see on SG S4 with 8-core processor (quad core in UK) which runs as smooth as my 4s because all that additional power need to be consumed for processing. No, I am not gonna get exited by fact that my phone got 8-core etc....all what I need is results.

Kind of reminds you of "Tom"...

Seriously though. I think I like some of the concepts that Facebook is introducing here. A people/interaction centric device vs. an app centric device has merit. Seems like the 1.0 version is lacking, but if they can build on it, they could have something.

I dunno about this person centric idea - only a few of the things I do on my phone are related to communicating, reading things on the internet and listening to audio take up far more of my device time and are both solo activities. I wonder if people have this idea in their head that 'cos they're called "phones" they're all about communicating, when really they're pocket computers with phones apps.

The real strength of the HTC first is by disabling the facebook stuff, you have a stock android phone with LTE

Possibly I could buy into people centric instead of app centric but honestly this is bound to be Facebook centric not people centric.

Not knocking this but doesn't android support multitasking? If so woukdnt any power user have Facebook app running all the time?

I see it gives you lock screen info but other than thst why not just run the app?

I guess any app could take over your lockscreen but I can't thing of any of the large number of apps I use thst I would want as my home screen and lock screen.
