This is great news!!!

I only use Facebook for the groups that I'm in. It's as great way to keep in touch with classmates (I'm an undergrad) and keep a check on events in societies which I'm in. Hell, even my university careers service now runs through a Facebook group.

Interesting!

there are some great groups out there in FB... some for sale/swap groups local to just my town or surrounding towns, or groups for some work stuff or other organizations... like, I have a private group for my condo association... decent basic stuff.

this app lacks a search function which is handy for the for sale/swap groups or trying to find "that one post"

so, without that... MEH!

I love that facebook is breaking off into multiple apps.

Will lead to a more focused experience depending on what you're trying to do.

I've been waiting fora Facebook Events app for a while now. That one would be the most useful, next to Messages.

I use Facebook groups to book all my work and network with different agencies, this app is actually pretty nice. Few issues like group members not in alphabetical order, and not being able to edit posts (but you can on the original app). Other than that this might actually make me more productive = more business!

Facebook Status Message Poster - a new app from Facebook just for posting a status.

Facebook Status Message Editor - a new app from Facebook just for updating a status that you already posted.

Facebook Status Message Deleter - a new app from Facebook just for deleting statuses that you posted.

Facebook Status Messages from White Male Friends Between the Ages of 16 and 17 Reader - a new app from Facebook just for reading... yeah, you get it...

...

There's going to be more Facebook apps than Pokemon. Bet you can't catch 'em all.

What is this all about, why do they want people using multiple apps? I actually don't understand it. You can only use one app at a time so they're not doubling up on advert revenue.

I think the main reason is to try to start making the main app less bloated. That and if you primarily use just one feature the stand alone app is a better experience, for example I mostly use facebook for messaging so the stand alone app there is a lot nicer than having to load the main app to do it.

OK, don't hate on me, but I actually like this. I participate in a few FB groups and it is nice to be able to browse and post to them. I never use the FB Messenger app (or the FB Photo app before) but this one is good.

People hate on Facebook doing this but then Google does the same thing.

They do?
Facebook is social interaction. It does everything from one site.
Google is a bunch of scattered, neat apps. They do web searches, run an embedded advertising system, provide maps, have a social media site, run a huge video sharing/uploading platform.

Does this app nag you into oblivion to turn notifications on too?

Ugh! why do we need yet another effin Fb app???? I still get notifications for messages in the Fb app but I can't read them there cause I have to download the Fb messenger app and I refuse to do so. I guess I will be deleting the Fb app altogether and just do the mobile site cause I'm not understanding why we need multiple apps when one damn app will work just fine

Next month...

Facebook introduces new "Likes" app, a dedicated app just to like photos.

:rolleyes::mad:

hahahaha hahahaha! love it!

There's a Google Search app, Google + app, Gmail app, Google Voice app, Google maps app, Google Chrome app, Google translate app, Google Inbox app... Facebook has two apps and people are complaining, Google has a million.
