While I've made it clear that I'm not a fan of FB, what boggles my mind is that people still continue to use it. Why?

I hear ya... these services are run by shady corporations. But these shady corporations built the platforms that everybody joined.

I guess people don't want to manage their own domain and website to share their photos and stuff. :p

Facebook (and others) make it easy for everyone to get together on one site or service.

It's the "networking" part of "social networking" that is key here.

Facebook feels so archaic. Using it feels like stepping through a portal to 2005. The Cambridge Analytica revelations are just icing on the cake for me. I stopped using Facebook regularly about a year ago and now it’s time to bury the corpse by deleting it altogether.

Add me to the "I quit facebook years ago" list.

I still use it daily, but all my details are fake.
Your details that you provide on profile is not important to them. What you do on your phone, browser, your location.. those are the data they want and they gather. Facebook is smart enough to know that you will out fake info in your profile.

If Facebook would allow smartphone owners to uninstall the app would be much more secure and safer for end user.
