I am using macOS Sonoma since day 1 of Beta 1 and facebook messenger on mac was working fine.

Today there was an update which i execute and messenger stopped working showing the following error

I have no idea if the problem is from the app itself or it's related to macOS Sonoma, but if you are using Facebook Messenger app you better skip the next update.

I tried to: reinstall, clean cache, switch user... but without any luck to fix it.

Will be happy to see if other are affected by this.

The most recent Messenger update requires MacOS 10.15 or higher. Very frustrating! I have reasons for still being on High Sierra (10.13) and really don't want to upgrade. The in-browser messenger.com doesn't seem to operate any more either. So I'm stuck with the stupid little boxes inside facebook. I used messenger as my main communication method with a lot of people... I am sad.

Use messenger.com instead of the app. Works exactly the same as app...if that's what you're trying to use.

DO NOT do this. I know I had tried it before but saw this response and thought maybe something had changed. My comment even SPECIFICALLY SAYS messenger.com does not work for my MacOS. Last time, it took two weeks to get my account unlocked. Then I was fine for three months, though restricted to the stupid tiny box. Now , thanks to this post, my whole account is locked again. Maybe this is my assist for breaking my facebook addiction...
