Hello.

I know that Facebook notifications always had problems but, all of a sudden, they completely stop working on every iDevice in my house. I still get them on my MBP, but iOS wise they are dead. We still receive notifications for the other Facebook apps like the messenger one.

I know it's not a big deal, but I'm curious if anyone else is having the same "0 notifications situation " :)

I don't get any push notifications from Facebook. They're turned on in the iPhone settings and the Facebook app settings. Messenger notifications come through fine. It has to be a Facebook issue since all my other apps work fine. If they can't get the notifications to work, I'm not even that eager for a watch app. I only ever see that I've got notifications when I open the app.

I don't think I've ever seen Facebook give me notifications and I've had the setting on always. Like above I only ever see them once I open the app and see it in the app. (Or if I get an email)

I only get the badges number on the Facebook icon but only for certain things like being mentioned or someone commenting on my photos. As for the notifications so far, still nothing...

My notifications were working pretty well.. I would receive notifications for everything except likes... Since about a week ago they came to an halt. :/

It's really annoying. People have been posting online about issues with Facebook notifications since iOS 6. I haven't seen any solutions that work.

Well, the notification process is a bit complex and requires many things to work accordingly on all ends. But that, by itself, doesn't explain the difficulties Facebook and Apple have to to make notifications to work on iOS. The principle is the same on Android and they work there.

Every other app I have works and gets push notifications to my phone no problem. It can't be that complex.

It's not complex as discovering how we are going to fly to the next galaxy... :D But it has it's degree of "failurability". :D

Basically, an app has to have a push server where the notifications are sent. From there they are sent to a Apple push notification server that it distributes the notifications to the devices.

The app, when sending the notification sends a unique number associated with the devices that have the app installed (in this case, the iDevice and/or the Mac). Ideally this number should be either refreshed or re-confirmed every time the user enters the app, but that doesn't happen always. Thats the first part where things can go wrong... Wrong ID's (that don't even exists) or wrong devices.

Then the communication is made via a sockets layer which by itself is not the easiest programming paradigm. When the notification reaches the APNS (Apple server), the server could be diverting the notifications to the wrong device or not rerouting at all due to countless problems.

So, as i said, it's not a simple process, but, as you said, since every other company manages to do it and even Facebook on Android, it shouldn't take that time to make them work properly.

For a couple of weeks or so I've been noticing the same thing--badge notifications but no notfications in the Notification Center (or lock screen, or banners, or alerts). Perhaps Facebook changed something on their end, either on purpose or inadvertently due to some bug.

I've toggled everything I can on and off and on, and I still get no notifications. I contacted FB but have heard nothing back. All other apps push notifications through with no problem. I guess I'm an  fan, but I'm going to blame FB on this one.

So, no one with a magical solution? :)

it's probably a bug in fb, so no solution until they fixed it. same problem here, the notification works in the mac, works in windows 10, but does not work in my ip6+. i don't even get the badge.
its messenger also has issue where a message is archived from web, but still showing messages on the message list.

I didn't get notifications through the FaceBook App but I do receive them via the FaceBook alternative App Paper.

My notifications are back (sort of, because not all are coming through)... But my GF's iphone still not getting them... :(
