I deleted the FB app when the whole 'silent audio to keep things awake' "mistake" happened and never went back. The ratio of useful connection to bullcrap I need to deal with sunk below my tolerance a while back. If I need to know something that someone posted on FB, I have found that, shockingly, people will make sure to tell me via other channels.

This makes me even happier that I don't use the Facebook app, and instead view it as a web page.

How dare Facebook put autoplay video ads with sounds in the app!
I pay good money to use Facebook, and....
Wait, I don't pay anything to use Facebook. It is free.
Well, I paid good money to get that app, and...
Wait, the app is free. I don't pay anything.
Well, Facebook forces me to use their site and app.
Wait, no one is forcing me to use Facebook.
Well, how dare Facebook provide me with a free service that lets me stay in touch with friends and relatives, and then they expect me to watch ads!
No more Facebook for me. That means more time for watching television where I don't have to put up with ads that automatically play with sound and everything.
Wait...

That's the worst part about free. It makes people think they're not allowed to criticize it.

It is not really free, watching ads is a form of currency. And it can certainly be quantized, if it is too much people don't want it.

My point was more the fallacy that free things, or things you don't pay money for, can't be criticized. Windows 10 came for free. iOS and macOS updates are free. Chrome is free. iWork is free. Android is free. Yet I can, and do, criticize all of them.

Do your iPhone battery a favour and delete the app. The difference is day and night.
I added the mobile site to my home screen and it gives pretty much the same functionality without the annoying notifications and battery drain.

In a few years Facebook will be the next MySpace dead and sold off. Then the next fad company will come out and make the same mistakes again.

That's what they were saying a few years ago as well.
