Ever since I installed Tahoe, Facebook often loads like this. After a few hours, or in some cases a day, it goes back to normal but still loads very slowly compared to Firefox or Chrome. This is on an M2 Pro Mac Mini. The same things happens on my M2 MacBook Air. Does anyone else get this?

Yes, for me the fix seemed to be going to Safari's Settings/Websites/Pop Up Windows, selecting all, clicking Remove

One more try. Safari's Settings/Advanced, click the check mark for Show features for web developers. Close settings, go to Develop in the Menubar and use Google Chrome Windows for User Agent.

That didn't work either :-(. It really is frustrating. I tried every single User Agent but Facebook still won't open yet it works perfectly if I use Chrome or Firefox. I do prefer to use Safari as my browser though.
Thanks for your help...I appreciate your suggestions.

Bummer. There is a setting that is screwing it up somewhere. You are going to have to do some experimenting to figure it out sounds like. I hope you find out what it is.

Let me/us know what ends up working. I had this exact problem with Safari and while changing the User Agent mostly worked, I felt it was a work around and not the real solution. After lots of fiddling with settings, deleting everything in Pop Up Windows worked.

Searching the problem I ran across this solution: Go to Facebook.com on Safari. Now go to Safari in Safari's menu. Choose "Settings for Facebook.com". Now uncheck "Enable content blockers". The page should become visible.

Thanks again. I tried the content blocker and still no joy. It doesn't help that the problem is intermittent. I'll keep trying various settings.

One disappointing thing about this is I never have had this problem with Safari on my iPad. I do believe Apple puts more effort in to apps on the iOS than Mac OS.

I have a problem with the scroll bar while in Facebook just disappearing and I have to refresh the page all the time. I got so fed up I switched to using Firefox while using Facebook and it started happening there as well.
After installing Tahoe any tabs left open for more than a few minutes the page turns blank and even refreshing the page doesn't bring it back.
If that issue doesn't get fixed then I have a problem starting with Apple. Tahoe has been a disaster all around, from this issue to readability, etc

Hi, Interstella,

Before I left Twitter during its most technically inept period within the initial transition to "X", I found that its own cookies or other stored data seemed to be breaking it. So, going to "Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data…", then searching for "Twitter", selecting all relevant results, and clicking "Remove" actually fixed things (until the next such incident).

I'm not sure whether Facebook's going through that kind of a time, but it's one more thing to try.

Yes, I tried that, to no avail. However, the problem hasn't appeared for a few days so maybe Facebook has done something about the problem?

I deleted the data for both Facebook and X but I just left a tab open on X for about an hour and the memory issue still cropped up again.
I sure hope Apple is working on a fix otherwise I will have to switch to Firefox. I left some tabs open on Firefox to see what would ha[[en and it was fine

Having same issue, particularly with messenger within Facebook itself (they've killed the desktop app), 80% of the time won't load chats - tried all suggestions above, no luck 🙁

The problem seems to have gone away for me. I've no idea why, unless Facebook have made some changes. I agree entirely that messenger is now a very poor experience on a desktop computer and I much preferred the desktop app. I generally just use the phone app for messenger now as it's so clunky on my computer. I have a list of contacts on the right of my screen and all of hem are people I never contact via messenger and the list seems to change at random with no way for me to customise the list. Two of the people in the list are actually dead rock music stars I followed while they were still alive! In fact I've just typed in the name of the person I contact the most on messenger and all I'm getting a moving circle in the messenger box.

realize this is an old thread - but this Safari /Facebook problem is ridiculous - every time, Facebook won't let me log in with safari (and before you ask It is ridiculous to have to remove security settings for a platform that claims it needs to run all kinds of backdoor security checks to make sure a user is not a bot)

Why the F@#$^ don't we have journalist call Zuckit out on this squabble !?!

I know this, if I were a company I would never want to advertise my business on a platform that makes their users so full of hate just trying to sign on

I solved most of my safari troubles on Tahoe by changing to Safari Technology Preview but the latest version of this is giving me problems. The main problem is the UK's Daily telegraph website which, being subscription only, means I can't even get other people to check out if it works for them. I've had to resort to using Chrome on this site or using Safari Technology Preview in developer mode and selecting the User agent as Chrome.

Every version of Mac OSX or MacOS has worked pretty much faultlessly for me since 2012 but Tahoe has so many annoying bugs that I can only hope that a lot of them are fixed in Golden gate.

To answer your question: Because mainstream journalists are either paid off by said company or they're stuck on FB too like the rest of us.
