most online news sites in Australia usually have stories that are nothing more than an introductory paragraph and then links to twitter and Facebook posts. So, in that case, can Twitter and FB charge the news sites? Would seem fair.
Sadly so true, the Murdoch empire can't seem to be too bothered to do it's own work. Often the stories on there news sites, are from a day or two before, and I've often read them elsewhere before then.

So sharing a news article from a reputable source will be banned, but sharing a conspiracy theory from YouTube is fine? great work Facebook:/

In that example, maybe one could look at why Google is giving those a platform then to host their poison on?
 
This is the thing, we are "not" all in one place.... Laws still prevail, but the fact we use the internet creates this false bubble we are in one place and these rules not apply.

Social sites are only concerned with their themselves and how much adverting they would loose by changes...

If you were a big tycoon, (.. or even a small one..) you'd be in the same position.
