dont think so. everyone i know bitches about it plus it doesnt even make sense. "2 hours ago" then theres sth from "3 days ago" before theres random stuff from an hour mixed in between. it doesnt get my taste and never will. it doesnt even consider actual friends or people. most is just crap from sites for obvious ad revenue reasons

Yes, they surface the things that are relevant to you. It may not make sense to you but it certainly has shown without a doubt that they're giving people more and more of what they want.

Do you honestly believe that a multi-billion dollar company with an entire department devoted to giving people more of what they want because it keeps them on the platform and makes them more money is less inept at figuring it out than you?

Most of? 3% is sponsored. That's it. The other 97% is what people want to see based on their behaviors on the site.

Although there's some factor that is based on what you supposedly want to see (or basically what Facebook might think you might want to see), most of it is based on what they want you to see (for whatever reason). Facebook might know whatever Facebook knows, but they can definitely give the user's the option to choose their sorting method that sticks, they just don't want to do it.

You obviously have little to no understanding of the Facebook news feed algorithm.

They give users a sorting option that sticks and suddenly users are going "Facebook never shows me anything interesting." because now you're seeing all the junk that no one cares about rather than the stuff that an algorithm smarter than you has been able to identify as most relevant to your interests.

It would be silly for them to make that sorting option stick because it would mean driving people away from the site.

Yeah, it's silly to give people options that could work better for those who would decide to use them. Look at Twitter with their display of information in chronological format, people just completely hate that and leaving in droves.

Yes it would be silly to give them that option if it was going to drive them away from the platform and make Facebook money.

Twitter is doing things like "While you were away..." and considering other options to show less chronological feeds and surface the most important stuff, just like Facebook.

Keep crying about it but Facebook isn't going to change it because it's not in the best interest of their users or themselves.

Yeah, showing me posts from 3 and 2 days ago that I've already seen intermixed with posts from minutes ago and others from many hours ago will totally make it more interesting for me seeing random information vs me wanting to see what's happening now and going in order so that I don't have to randomly think is this now or why I'm seeing something that I already saw from days ago. That surely is making me come back because I long to see those days old posts that I already saw.

And, yes, let's jump on the person discussing something rather than sticking to the topic. Especially telling someone soemething they were first in ponying out already themselves. All clear signs of a strong argument.
