Look, I have some cute toggles too!

just use your imagination that they actually do anything.

* and we’ll reset them to “public” when you’re not paying attention *

do you feel better now?! ?

I do feel better that you’ve reminded me of the good old skeumorphic iOS days. Don’t care what anyone on here says either. I miss that look and want to flick them physically appealing shiny buttons on and off.

See, I find this hard to believe, because people actually understanding Facebook's "approach to privacy across our apps and technologies" would be bad for business, which tells me this is as genuine as yesterday's sanctimony.

No matter what programs Facebook has to offer. I do not trust Facebook at all. Facebook and your privacy just don’t go together. They are just collecting data and using it against you.
I agree, we are always just one mistake (or a bunch) from, "we (Facebook) didn't realize we were violating your privacy. It has since been corrected (we think)."

got rid of facebook a long time ago now, and once all my favorite youtubers move to odysee I will be getting rid of google too, I literally only use google for youtube , stopped using google about 10 years now, never used gmail . Don’t see the point of using google

Facebooks attempt to redeem itself is embarrassing and laughable at this point. But let’s give them credit for trying.

We use Facebook Business Manager for advertising and the platform is great for businesses and entrepreneurs.

For personal use & privacy concerns, I don't overshare, that's it. And don't share stuff that I don't want the internet to know, because frankly, there is no tech social giant that won't make use of my personal data.
Whilst you speak perfect sense - it doesn’t address the problem of years of data collection which was essentially hidden from the users. It’s not about ‘what you put online’, certainly not in the arrogant way which many posters frame it (‘I just don’t use Facebook’, etc) - it’s about the free for all that has occurred since the inception of these sites, Facebook in particular but by no means alone. Taking the info you put online to do what they want with, shouldn’t be the reason for whether you put stuff online or not. It shouldn’t matter that just becuase you place something on their website, you should be worried about it being used against you. Eula aside. It should never have been something possible from the start.

The issue is that it should be illegal, full stop, to use this info in any way. If they can’t make money without it, then find another way, charge for the service or do something else.

They have taken the ‘free tv with adverts’ model and turned it grotesque. The clear difference is targeted ads based in a time of the day or a particular show, when compared to targeted ads based on every aspect of one’s online or even offline lives, health, sexuality.

It’s ****ing disgusting.

In other news, petrochemical corporations are opening a Clean Air Center, and the strip mining industry is opening a Mountain Lodge.

Step 1: for privacy delete Facebook. Step 2: for privacy delete all your other social media. Step 3: for mental health, leave the house every day.

Done.
As long as you leave your smartphone behind.

Having a "Privacy Center" is like having a "Task Manager". No one will care to learn how to use it, and it shouldn't have to be there in the first place.

Facebook's reason for existence is to invade your privacy. So here's their plan to help you manage your "privacy"

“Welcome to the Facebook Privacy Center. We have recorded the data point that you have accessed the Facebook Privacy Center and we will be selling it to third parties concerned about protecting your privacy.”

I am so happy I was locked out of my account about 2 years ago when I forgot to update my new phone number for the 2 factor authentication. Haven’t looked back since!
A blessing in disguise

They want to educate them on how they will breach their privacy ?

Are there people seriously still using facebook? Sounds to me like "people still using MSN messenger"
