Almost 2000 friends on Facebook. My stories section on Messenger was always empty. Ditto when added to the main app. Stop trying to make Snapchat happen Facebook.

I hardly use Snapchat as all my friends have ventured off with Instagram stories, and since I have more followers on Instagram than Snapchat I mainly use IG Stories now. My Facebook has not been updated yet with Facebook Stories and I most likely won't use it. I do notice that Messenger gets fairly used but it's mostly just re-uploaded stuff from Snapchat or Instagram Stories. Mark Zuckerberg got all his user base covered from Whatsapp to IG to Facebook.

So what happens when you use Facebook Stories, does it also show it on Messenger also / vice versa?

When will these social media apps realise that nobody wants a crappy version of Snapchat. If they want Snapchat they will use Snapchat.

Younger people who use Snapchat don't want to use Facebook. Facebook is something they use to make their parents and grandparents feel like they're included in their digital lives. Facebook is the front door, Snapchat is the backdoor or secret door where they can chill with their friends. Now, that Snapchat is becoming popular with people over the age of 30, FB is really getting desperate. The best hope FB has is to buy it if that ever becomes an option.

I'm pissed at Facebook right now. A few weeks ago I changed my phone number and carrier. The other day I get an email from Facebook, saying that they have deactivated the phone number on my account, because the carrier is no longer recognizing it as a valid number. Apparently Facebook is actually periodically checking to see if your phone is valid with carriers! I don't know how much info they are checking about it, but that is just outrageous and I am not giving any more phone info to them.

FB is actually useful for easy signup

I mean more for things like joining clubs and groups that operate entirely out of Facebook (like at college).

I'd rather be able to join another way.

I don't think I ever gave them a phone number. I guess it was not a requirement when I joined. I didn't delete my account but I made it invisible or dormant so it looks like my account no longer exists and I don't appear on friends lists anymore.

It really was not so bad when I joined about 4 or 5 years ago. But between how insane politics got in the US and U.K. and how the app turned into the equivalent of a bloating tick still trying to get just a little more of your blood, in reality more personal information and every person you might ever have known for more than ten minutes, as well as all the battery and resources of the device it's installed on, I had to cut it loose. It gave me immense satisfaction to delete the app from my iPhone and immense frustration that I could not delete, just disable it on my Android phones.
I know you asked someone else but I like to put my reason in as well.
My Parents and Grandparents are just now getting accounts and I feel kinda guilty if I don't respond to them regularly on Facebook (Especially my grandmother who recently discovered the pleasures of chain messages and tired memes)
Facebook is basically a social network for old people. They are the only ones active on it and don't understand Snapchat but hopefully by the time they do, a new social network can come along for us to go to.
As a 50 year old woman, I'd dearly love to know why Grammy and auntie, and Sis and my friends just a few years older than me feel like their day is not complete if they don't spam their friends and family with that crap. In particular, I really wish I could b*slap the troll who invented chain letters, and the equally evil troll who brought them into the digital realm.

I really would love to know, so I can avoid it happening to me. Do I need to take a hormone supplement, eat more fiber? For the love of goat cheese please tell me what I need to do to avoid becoming THAT little old lady! I'm already little, already old, and already am acquainted with an alarming number of cats.  This does not bode well for me...

Love all these new fb features i really use them with my friends n females. Pretty cool idea. Fb is great

FB app is for stupid people who want to debate topics with other stupid people ;)

Uninstall FB phone app and get your life back and time back. Spend time with people you care about and who care about you. If you value productivity then just delete it.

It can also be many other things for many other people who can perfectly decide what fits or doesn't fit in their own personal lives.

Fortunately, adoption of Facebook Stories appears to have been fairly low
I think you made a typo, so I fixed it.

It's a shame so many services require you to use Facebook now.
If you really don't want to join Facebook, just make a fake account you use for signing up for stuff. It's convenient. Edit: Oh, you're talking about college clubs/etc. Well, I use Facebook pretty much only for that and messaging, and I don't see the problem.

Dont think anyone want use it on facebook, stories are aimed at the real friends and most share stuff on instagram or snapchat with real friends instead of some facebook randoms that only met once or went to school with 20 years ago and never talked to again...

... And herein lies the problem. You say you "hate Facebook just a little bit more" - yet you're obviously continuing to use it.
If you can point me to a tool that allows me to keep up with family and old friends as well as Facebook, I'm all ears. Just because I hate them doesn't mean they haven't cornered the market there.
