Keep staring at it. Face ID is a lot slower on the iPad because it doesn’t have the upgraded cameras.
Because sliding your finger over a button is difficult?
With faceid I just don’t even think about it as much... with Touch ID it’s more of a conscious effort, it’s hard to explain.
I feel ya. The authentication process becomes nearly invisible.
You know the fact that face ID is working so well is kind of defeating the main argument of folks who went with the 8. How are they going to console themselves now?

I don't think the main argument was Face ID working well, it was the overall reasoning that many iPhone 8 users prefer Touch ID because they don't have an interest in Face ID.
It is hard to explain because there’s no logical explanation to what you’re saying. A conscious decision is not a problem at all.
For me it was always about the narrowness of the X display and the shorter battery life compared to the 8+. I actually kind of like to be able to unlock my phone as I pull it out of my pocket. Also like to be able to use just the screen as a low-level light when I check on my kids at night and I'm able to do that without lighting up the entire room by placing the phone against my leg and then authenticating using touch ID. Kind of hard to explain... ha. These are two things I think I may miss once Touch ID is gone forever.
Why? Does that get in the way of Face ID or something else?

I don't have a problem with Touch ID. It works great. There isn't any reason for me to run out and buy a new phone because of some new authentication.
It ain't broke... don't fix it ya know? They did... but that doesn't mean I have to buy it.
I wasn't one of those chugging all that Apple kool-aid being passed around at the keynote.
Just sayin'... and it was never about the authentication for me anyway. The narrow notched screen is a lot bigger reason why I passed on the X.
I prefer the Plus sized screen. The phones share the same internal hardware. It's not like I'm missing out on a whole lot. Well, based on the threads I've seen today maybe I'm missing out on a yellow OLED screen?

LOVING IT! Face ID is just amazing. And I echo the same sentiment about my iPad Pro!
My iPad makes a gentle crackling sound each time I attempt this. I think it would prefer a different owner.

Not all of us with an 8 are despairing over FaceID. Don’t need to console myself at all.
