My iPhone x has been flawless with faceid, but not so much for my fiancée. It hasn’t worked much for her. Will Apple swap the device for a brand new one since I’m within the 14 day return policy still? I don’t think getting a refurbished one near launch is acceptable.
 
I assume you've done the normal troubleshooting? Reset FaceID, factory reset, etc, etc...I don't think it'd hurt to reach out to the folks at the Apple Store. You're within the return policy, they'll take care of you I'm sure.
