Does that mean you don't have a hot girlfriend?

No hot girlfriend and I have the kind of face that people don't want to see.

Apple, welcome to 2008.
My old HTC Trinity on WinMo had a front facing camera and video calling back in 2006. Though I never used it, mostly because the quality frankly sucked and there was, well, no one to video call with.![]()
The european market has had longer demand for this than the US, based on the fact that a lot of HTC phones which had front facing cameras originally, stripped that feature before it arrived in the States. Not sure if it was an infrastructure issue or what.
It'll be interesting to see if the better recent tech, along with the popularity of the iPhone finally prove that people really want video calling... or not.
If Iever want to see someone face to face over long distance I just tell them to get on msn or something and turn their webcam on... Which happens very, very, very rarely. (I can't even remember the last time.)
This facetime became extremely pointless when it was said it would be iPhone to iPhone only (anyone know why that is?) as I know no one (close friends only) that owns an iPhone right now and I don't see that changing.
Facetime 3 months from now will be the biggest "I never use it" feature
Whole "relationships" will start and end this way. Not to mention the inevitable "drama."
.
While I do see people's points on this being some kind of "novelty" feature..it does change the game in that many people will have access to it. I can see many uses for such an application. It's all really personal preference. If people don't have an iPhone tough luck, In Europe they have gotten it to work cross carrier and through different phones, mainly because its a low standard..and is seen as a novelty there. And don't talk about "no its great, oh they've had it for years, blah blah. Who cares? The phones weren't Apple, they didn't have the grunt to get the technology really going. That is not fanboyism that is fact. I am in high doubt that certain models of Sony Erricsons and Nokias with video calling features sold, and sell in great numbers today. If they do, well I think people don't CARE about it..What I mean is Apple has a way of giving people incentive to CARE about features on a product. To care about MP3's, TouchScreen's, Apps..I mean they changed the phone in such a way that its actually useful. Yes so many great phones out there..but I dare say they've had one successful model to mimic...Anyway it's irrelevant because this is the insane U.S. market..which has low quality, and behind the times carriers. Truth is I see many people using it, maybe not the majority, but I believe especially early adopters will either love or hate the feature. Even if it's on wifi.
Just my 2cents.
I just wanted you to see how your post looks.
Somebody never learned to paragraph.
I think Apple's version of facetime is pointless. It's the fact that it's iPhone to iPhone that cripples it.
I mean, I think the idea of an on-the-go-webcam is cool. Thank goodness devs will have the ability to access it. Once I have the ability to access the camera and connect to another Skype or iChat user, then the camera might get used. Until that happens, and it's limited to iPhone to iPhone, it's pointless.
and the baby to see the parent too.
This will be a huge hit amongst kids that currently do video chats. The ability to make that experience portable will be big. There's a whole generation of kids that are far more plugged in than many people on this site, not to mention the average public. Facetime is the next logical extension for them.
The program may as well be called Private(s)-Time for how it will be used by them though.
I wish there was sexting when I grew up. We were stuck using our imaginations, which were pretty vivid.
Nope.Got several hot exes...but they're useless...
