Can't wait to get this finally, although it may only be a novelty. :D

Could spark the start of FaceTime customer support!?

There's a link to download right now but for some reason it redirects to an iWork '09 trial.

Here.

EDIT:
Nevermind, fixed and downloaded.

Link is working now
Indeed it is. Giddy with joy!

Works very well for a beta.

A few observations of the Beta:
* Names are alphabetized by first name and there is no option yet to change it to last.
* There is no search field for contacts.
* Preferences are very thin (only FaceTime On/Off, change your registered email address and add a new one).
* It would be nice if my iPhone 4's phone favorites were used as FaceTime's favorites for a starter set.
* Recents looks exactly like the iPhone's phone app recents list.
* You can manually switch from portrait to landscape if you hover over the pip of yourself window (forgot what it's called).
* Transitions for everything. Preferences slide up from the bottom over the contact list. Rotates smoothly from portrait to landscape. Very nice polish.
* The Zoom button does nothing until you're connected with another FaceTime device, then it zooms but does not enter fullscreen.
* My MacBook heats up every time I run it (don't have to actually connect with anyone). I don't ever remember it doing that with iChat video.

Am I the only one who cannot sign in? I havne't seen anyone else report the problem.

I installed it, it shows my on my webcam but is stuck on the "Signing in..." part. I tried using my current Apple ID and also tried to make a new one, neither is working. I restarted the computer, even reinstalled the software and nothing.

Anyone else having issues getting it to install? It keeps telling me that there's an update required so I ran all of my updates and it still won't let me install it. It's requiring the latest security update.

Edit: Nevermind... it requires Snow Leopard. That's my issue. Stupid, old work computer...

It's a nice thing for Apple to do, but I don't think I'll bother downloading it. I don't really have a use for this or Skype either.

To me this app seems a little redundant. Skype is universally used and is available as an app on the IPhone and already provides this function. The limitation with Facetime is that it can only be used by people with a mac or an IPhone. I'm not sure about everybody else but not all my friends have this privilage but can all use Skype.

Jail Broken iPhone Face Time for Mac will not work

Mine won't sign in, anyone else having this problem?

I using my JB iPhone and when someone tries to call me it says the person needs to update Face Time on the handset... If I update my handset NO MORE JB no chance.

Anyone have any recommendations?

What iOS version are you running? I haven't gotten home to try it, but I have 4.1 JB, it would be kind of hard to update to anything newer since it doesn't exist.

The Skype app allows for facetime? I didn't know this.

I was excited to hear today's news concerning face time on Mac, seeing as my mom has a face time iPod touch, and while im out of the country would be ablw to face time with her on my Mac.

Of course, Skype for me has always been my go to preference. If what you're saying that Skype on iPhone/iPod touch can do video calling, then id rather have my mom use that and I'll sign into skype on my Mac. But again, I didn't know sky could do this.

Skype on the iPhone does not have video chat, only voice calling and text chatting.

i went to download the beta and forgot i haven't updated to 6.4 yet on my 13"

next to the mba this is the best thing to come from todays conference.
