I was wondering whether FaceTime will work on an iPhone or iPad that is tethered to a Verizon IPad's wifi hotspot (over 3G/LTE). Does anyone know? Or can it determine that it is ultimately going over cellular?

This will work fine. If I want to download an app over 50MB while i'm out and about I just tether my iPad to my phone and AT&T is none the wiser.

As others have said, it works fine especially when you have a LTE connection. The iPad simply thinks its on a regular wifi connection. Doesn't matter where it's coming from.

I always thought that you could not use facetime over LTE, but if you use a iphone tethered to a verizon LTE iPad I guess it just see's it as wifi and works. Do I have this right? That's a nice workaround if true.
