Facetime troubleshooting tips

I've had problems connecting with Facetime of late. I get to the Connecting... screen and it just stalls after 2 or 3 minutes.

Is there a good online troubleshooting guide for this type of thing?

What device and what version of iOS? Facetime no longer works on iOS 6 on devices that are eligible for iOS 7.
