Hey guys, I'm having a little problem with facetime that maybe someone could help me with. My girlfriend and I facetime a lot from mac to mac and sometimes when she talks quietly I cant hear her. It's like theres a limit to the volume it will pick up and any sound below that limit won't go through at all. Sometimes she can't really talk that loud or else she'll wake up others in the house or something. Also, she's using a brand new MacBook Pro which has the mic by the optical drive while I have a 2008 MacBook with the mic by the camera. Maybe her mic is just less sensitive than mine. I was just wondering if anyone knew about a fix for this. We used to use skype which would pick up quiet sounds perfectly but we switched because it was too laggy.

Same here

I've been having the same issues using Facetime with my fiancée. Skype is louder but has a tendency to freeze, so we tried using Facetime, but the audio from her MacBook Air is so quiet that I can barely hear her when she is speaking at a normal volume.

mgmusicman94, I don't think it's the mic (because the same issue doesn't seem to persist in Skype), but I don't know how to fix it.

Anyone else have an idea?

Same audio problem here. Facetime audio is quiet on El Capitan new MBP

This thread is from 4 years ago and I'm sure the problem you're having is caused differently than mine was. It might be better for you to start a new thread about your issue. Good luck!
