Hello new member here. Ive been wanting to make the jump over to iphone from android for sometime now and the new iphone will most likely be my move. I was wondering if anyone had any information if the phone will be able to unlock if you have glasses or sunglasses on? I mostly wear contacts but when im at home i usually just use my glasses. When im outside i have my sunglasses on. is this going to pose an issue with the new face id?

If Samsung can't do it apple cant do it

Hard to figure out on speculation right now. 2 days away from the presentation.

This feature sounds absolutely incredible, the most amazing feature of the past five years IF it's true. Cross your fingers...

Apple will probably answer that kind of question on Tuesday. No one here will be able to answer you definitively, seeing how the phone hasn't been released.
I thought there might be a chance someone saw something on the leaks that i missed. I hope they are able to figure it out that would be a huge dealbreaker for me. And i imagine all the ladies who wear sunglasses the size of safety googles would be pretty upset if it didnt work and they dont have a finger print sensor.

What we don't know, is the amount of research and development Apple has put into face ID. There's a lot of considerations and factors they likely took into effect before they would allow face ID to supersede touch ID if they weren't confident in the technology. Stay tuned for Tuesday.

Im beginning to think you're going to have to do something to get face id to work. Everywhere is saying that it will be able to detect your face even laying flat on a table. This could be a security threat if you sit your phone on the table and it keeps unlocking not to mention drain the battery. Also makes you wonder if the lock screen will be removed all together.

Indeed. I've been wondering if Apple's cracked the hijab/niquab issue.

Then there's the "carnival in Venice" issue. And the "out-trick-or-treating-at-Halloween" issue. The "cosplay" issue.

Not that any of these affect me. I'm just curious how the engineers have solved them.

Not sure about the most amazing, but definitely an amazing if not killer feature. TouchID will soon feel dated.

Welcome to MacRumors! Speculating here, but that issue will probably be covered under initial set-up, similar to using different fingers for setting up TouchID. Stay tuned!
