I have an iphone 13 mini that I setup not long ago. I do not have much things downloaded and don't mind doing a factory reset. I do not need anything on the phone.

Is it as simple as clicking on reset? Or I need to click on something else first? And how long does this typically take?

I want my whole phone to be wiped.

Umm, if you want to go DFU you still can, and that’s cleaner I suppose. But you need a computer and iTunes/Finder. Otherwise, just use built in reset and you should be fine most of the time.

What do you mean you need a computer and itunes/finder? How many different ways are there to do a reset of the iphone?

So the built in reset doesn't delete everything? I am confused with this. I want to basically wipe it clean and start new. Like imagine you have a computer with many files and want to do a clean reinstall of the machine and it is brand new.

Step 1: Make sure you have a copy of everything on another device. Assuming you do since you acknowledge you want to do a factory reset:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.

This will reset your device to Factory Settings, no computer needed.

Now, if you must do it using a computer:

Step 1: Settings > your profile > Find My > Find My iPhone > toggle it off.
Step 2: Connect your device to computer
Step 3: (speaking with iPhone 13 and macOS Finder in mind) Press the volume Up key, then the volume Down key, then the Side Button but hold the Side Button until the phone restarts and macOS Finder recognises the iPhone in Recovery Mode.

Step 4: Tap Restore to start with restoring the firmware afresh.

You could just go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings. You really don’t need a computer to factory reset a phone IMO.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings is all you need to do.

i did this. But after this it shows syncing syncing to icloud? It doesn't seem to work and I don't want that.

It now ask me for my apple id password.

Enter the apple id password for this email to turn off find my and activation lock.

I need to enter this? I tried but it doesn't work? Is this the same as the apple.com login password? I tried and it doesn't work.

You don’t need to log in with your apple ID when you set it up. You likely did that, that’s why some data comes back because it’s coming from icloud.

When you factory reset, you should have disabled Find My (it should have when you performed the reset). To get past the activation lock, you’ll need to use the apple ID you used to sign up on that device.
