    Hey,

Desperartly wanting an iPhone, now its time to get one, I have a job so i can afford one now.

I don't want contract, as I'll be moving to the USA in February, so want a phone that works here in the UK with my 02 sim the now, and then buy a sim when I move there.

Are these factory unlocked iPhones for real?
    Anyone purchased one? Experience?
Will future updates work? Will inserting an UK sim lock it to the uk network?

I know these are probably stupid questions, but would appreciate any and all advice.

    Thanks you.

    Hi,

I bought a factory-unlocked 3GS, best decision I made. I have had no problems with the phone whatsoever, it works with any UK and non-UK SIM.

Activation is undertaken via iTunes with whatever SIM you wish to use - push notifications work fine with no problems either (I have just jailbroken as well).

One of the good things about getting a factory phone that future firmware updates won't lock you out of using your phone with any SIM you choose - of course, if you want to use jailbreak apps then you will need to wait for a jailbreak for whatever firmware you have but at least the main functionality will always be available.

It will initially cost more, as you will need to buy the phone up front rather than paying in monthly 'instalments' but it's worth doing - go for it!

Let me know if you have any questions.
