Factory Unlocked iPhone 4s

I chatted with an apple employee, and they said an unlocked iPhone 4s isn't available.
Do you guys have any knowledge on how long until they release an unlocked version after release based on prior experiences with the iPhone 3g, 3gs, 4?

And I am talking about in the U.S.

Why would any of us know? It took the iPhone 4 months before a factory-unlocked version was available in the US.
