Yes, I think it'll be $599 for the base model at a no obligation, retail price and $649 for a factory unlocked option. Just like the prices they're offering for the iPhone 4 right now.

If I were to guess, then I'd say yes. No one knows for sure yet. When it's released (or maybe even in the keynote, if you're lucky), you'll find out for sure.

True. U.S. did not have the ability to receive the unlocked phones because not all carriers had the iPhone available, and did not have much GSM carriers. We have 6 carriers offering the iPhone on GSM, so that is a huge difference vs. the 1 GSM carrier in the U.S.
 
pretty sure apple _will_ sell this as unlocked in stores. Great source of income for them.
