Do you guys think that the Iphone 5 will be sold unlocked at launch?
The thread locks down in 3.... 2.... 1....
Yes, I think it'll be $599 for the base model at a no obligation, retail price and $649 for a factory unlocked option. Just like the prices they're offering for the iPhone 4 right now.
lets wait and see.
If I were to guess, then I'd say yes. No one knows for sure yet. When it's released (or maybe even in the keynote, if you're lucky), you'll find out for sure.
I wouldnt think so.
It has always been available unlocked in most markets outside the US.
I think we should all think and wait for Apple to release the iPhone 5 and then think about thinking if it'll be unlocked or not
once all the carriers have it like they do in Canada ... they will be unlocked
True. U.S. did not have the ability to receive the unlocked phones because not all carriers had the iPhone available, and did not have much GSM carriers. We have 6 carriers offering the iPhone on GSM, so that is a huge difference vs. the 1 GSM carrier in the U.S.
Actually, it's 9.
pretty sure apple _will_ sell this as unlocked in stores. Great source of income for them.

I'd say yes
