Odd thing happened to me this evening. I was paying with my Apple Card (via my watch) at a fast food restaurant, and after my watch vibrated (and said "done") as it always does, the NFC terminal prompted me to enter my "password". I was confused at this, and the cashier told me to press a button to dismiss it. When I did, the terminal indicated that the transaction had failed, and as I was trying again, the register suddenly printed out a receipt and it appeared that it had gone through.
Even though I was in the process of holding my watch to the terminal for the second time, the impression I got was that it was the first (reportedly failed) transaction that somehow the register had considered to be valid, as I'm pretty sure I did not get a haptic tap the second time.
But regardless, the really strange part is that there is no sign of this transaction having taken place. The couple of times I've used my Apple Card, I've immediately received a notification of the transaction. And although the Apple Card is my default Apple Pay choice on the watch now, I do have other cards (and I suppose it's possible that I somehow inadvertently swiped to switched cards), but none of these are showing the transaction either.
