I'm not sure if my iMac Superdrive is completely failing, but it has been acting up recently and making some weird spinning and grinding noises. Half the time I can't even get a cd or dvd to mount properly.

So, based upon the cost of a service call, I was thinking about just getting an external cd/dvd drive. Any recommendations? The last external drive I had was a Lacie connected to a G4 and never had an issue. I don't do a lot of burning, but I do use the iMac as a small media center for movies and music.

Its an Intel model about 3 years old running Snow Leopard.
