Hi

I have a new SB SS watch with Milanese Loop. Watch is 12 days old. I noticed a few faint scratches in the coating that I can only see in hi intensity LED light. In normal light, I can’t see anything is this covered under my AppleCare Plus? Since it is within the two weeks can I just ask for a replacement? Is it covered under accidental damage? Shall I just live with it as I can only see it under very high intensity light?

Thanks

Try to ‘Live with it’ as you said. If you can barely see them, with the exception under certain lighting, then it’s likely a non-issue. Make sure that the Milanese loop does not come in contact with the display, as that’s likely where the scratches are coming from.

If you get another the same thing will happen. Micro scratches are hard to avoid unless you want an ugly screen protector on it.

Do be aware that the milanese band will harm the screen and even the body of the watch if allowed to contact.

The problem is that I get a severe wrist rash with most synthetic band materials. Even many leather bands. Any suggestions?

You can still use your band but you need to be careful when removing and charging.

I have a friend who has the same band and he has no scratches but is very careful about letting the band touch the watch face or even the back as it will scratch the sensor.

If you like the band, keep it, just be careful. As far as the micro scratches, if it going to happen.

Hope you enjoy!

Thanks to veryone for their replies so far.

I have the new type of Milanese Loop where the magnet end can slide through the loop lug, such that the band is continuous and only attached to the watch at the other end.

Can I clean the ML like this, or do I need to completely detach it at both ends from the watch? Thanks.

Your scratches may be on the coating and not on the sapphire crystal. You could take it back, but the same thing may happen again. That's the thing with wearables, whether it's an Apple Watch or a $8,500 Rolex Submariner, they're going to eventually get scratched and dinged in daily wear.

As others have suggested, it's best to be careful with the SBSS Milanese Loop. It's beautiful, but it seems to scratch watches easily. For cleaning purposes, I would suggest that you carefully remove the band from the watch first.

The SBSS w/Milanese Loop is a beautiful watch, congrats on your purchase.

My friend rinses his watch off with warm water once a week. About once a month he removes the SBSS Milanese Loop from the watch about once a month and soaks in some ammonia/Windex over night and rinses afterward. I used to soak my Rolex in Windex over night and it worked great.
