Hello,

I am in the market for a laptop - in particular a 12" Macboook Retina - for my daughter (11yo) who will need one in school from now on.

I can get a 2015 MB (low end config) for a discounted price - 1100 CHF (I live in Switzerland)
The 2016 MB (also low end config) is 1400 CHF in the Apple store, but I can get it from a local seller for 1275 CHF, so there are 175 CHF (which is basically 175 USD) difference between the old and the new.

Which one would you recommend considering that the requirements will be rather low - word processing, web browsing etc...

cheers

If this is to last her for the next 4-5 years, go with the 2016. She'll likely not notice any difference today, but I suspect in a couple years the $175 spent now would be felt as a wise decision.
