Wow, the Chinese have again done what they're doing every time because it works for them.
"Sure you can produce your stuff ridicuosly cheap over here, but if we like it we'll pirate the **** out of it as with these wages you pay most people can't afford the originals anyway."
It's kind of a silent agreement between government, companies and the workers and everyone over there knows that, and eventually people will even grow their own business out of that situation (I mean, they even cloned ****ing Disneyland).
Noone will sue anyone in China, it just does not work like in the US or elsewhere over there.

I think the biggest issue Apple would be concerned about is the experience provided to the customer. Some people on here are saying that "big brother" won't mind more sales, but this fake store is probably not following Apple guidelines, probably doesn't have the exact layout or offerings every other Apple store has therefore diminishing the experience.

Costco Canada is an unauthorized dealer of Macbook Pros too... So even large American corporations are getting into the unauthorized dealer game.

Yup, and no Apple warranty on those computers. They say so right on the product page. So, if you have a problem, you take it back to Costco and hope to heck that their "tech" knows how to fix it, and can get parts in a reasonable amount of time.

As long as the Mercedes or any other major brand auto wasn't a stolen vehicle and was still under the terms of the warranty, it doesn't matter where you buy it. The warranty is valid.

That's just the thing - it most likely would either be stolen, used, or grey market. If it were used, you got screwed on price but probably still have warranty. Stolen, you might end up with no car and lose a bunch of money on the deal. Grey market, no warranty.

In the end Costco has the better warranty. If it breaks, they will give you a new one if they have one in stock, or your money back, your choice.

It would be funny if Samsung was behind this. Those products are actually all made and manufactured by Samsung to show Apple what "blatantly copying" means to them.

I suppose that might work great for some people, but most people I know want their computer repaired - and fast - if something breaks on it. They don't want to have to get their money back and go buy a new one somewhere - you really think Costco will have one in stock 6months from now to replace it with? You have seen how quickly items come and go at Costco, right?
Anyways, we're going a bit off topic here.

Doesn't work that way. Apple still warranties the machines. Quebec laws are pretty clear on that. Costco only states that they also provide a warranty, but that doesn't remove the burden from Apple by law.

Read up on Canadian law once in a while (since the link was to the Canadian website).

Samsung is Korean. What do they have to do with China ? Some of you guys are just downright ludicrous.

That's assuming they will ever have the opportunity to have an actual Apple Store experience.

And seriously, Apple Store is not Disneyland...

This fake Apple store story makes me livid.

Atleast I have an interview Tuesday to work in a real Apple store.

I suppose that's helpful for you - but most of Canada has different laws. Costco's site specifically states: "Costco Canada is not an authorized dealer of Apple Canada Inc. Costco Canada provides the warranty on the Apple® products it sells." This means that the manufacturer's warranty does not apply here. Except for those of you in Quebec, I guess.

A fake store is a fake store no matter is sells genuine products. It'd be nice and justified if they were selling products with their store name like China tablet store, Bejing Electronic Goods etc.

China officials close fake Apple stores in Kunming city

I wonder how long the owners expected this operation to run for?
Setting up must have cost a bomb and then to have no business licence either?

BBC link…
China has moved to shut down several fake Apple stores found in Kunming city.

Three of the elaborate fake stores, which mimicked the look of the real thing, came to the world's attention after being exposed on a blog.

Following the publicity, trade officials investigated and found five stores in Kunming posing as official Apple retail outlets.

Two of the five have now been closed as their owners lacked a business licence.

So the "non-civilian" couldn't just tell his mom what printer to get?

Oh I told my mom what to get and of all things, the local Apple store had the best deal with all the local discounts and promos offered at the time. I was also curious to see how the local Apple store was and if it should be zoned as a church.
