I found an auction on eBay for a "Genuine" Apple iPhone X Leather Folio case, the price was really interesting 60€ but not cheap as Chinese staff that is about 15€, the seller also as about 960 positive feedback and most of them are for genuine Apple products.

Today I got my "Genuine" Apple case and first thing I noticed is that on the white box the black cover photo was attached over the box, pretty weird.

Opening the bog I notice that the cover was inside a sloppy plastic bag... opening up there was a blank piece of paper instead the Apple instruction and inside some foam ( I never seen in unboxing )

Other main difference that I noticed is that on the bottom of the box there are no design instructions, glue spread on the bottom of the box, the flip part for credit cards i not identical to Apple one.

I can't really tell if is real or fake leather, not sure if is possible.

At this point I'm pretty sure that is a Fake Apple case and I try to call Apple to advise them, the person I talk to said to write a feedback from here:
https://www.apple.com/feedback/

I did it but I'm not sure that in US they will bother to dig into this, I hope so.
Since the seller has 960 positive feedback that means it sold a lot of this "Official" Apple accessorize and who bought did not know what they was paying for.

I can post the seller shop link on eBay if you want

I opened a complaint with PayPal but I would also like that this seller would stop selling and doing what is doing.

I post an unboxing reference video and some photo of the case

Comparing it to the case in your video it's definitely a fake, note the "NATURAL LEATHER" which appears burned into the backing vs what's in yours, looks like "Material" and it's stamped in.

You did the feedback form and made a complaint with Paypal, the only other thing you may do is take it up with eBay for the false marketing the seller is doing, but who knows if they'll actually do much about it.

I had this happen once with a leather case for the iPhone 6 that claimed to be genuine but clearly wasn't when I received it, and as soon as I opened the case with eBay, the seller immediately refunded my money.

This is not a chinese shop, most of the fake staff are from chinese shops, but is an Italian shop and the owners are italians ( I guess from their names ) and the have an italian VAT number.

In italy is not legal ( as I guess in most part of the world ) sell fake products.

I call eBay and they said that will save a internal note on the item.

PayPal told me to send it back so I can get refund, I want to wait for Apple and see if I can contact some one in Apple.

I don't really feel that is correct to just return this cover and get refund as nothing happened, all the people that left positive feedback paid good money for fake items and they don't even know.

Not sure if is better to write a negative review now or later.

According to eBay, you should not have to send back a counterfeit item:

"Counterfeit items
If a buyer suspects that an item is counterfeit, and there are strong indicators that the item is counterfeit, we don't require the buyer to return the item to the seller. The buyer agrees to cooperate with us to ensure the proper disposal of the item. In such instances, we refund the buyer for the full cost of the item and original shipping, and the seller reimburses us for the refund. The buyer may not sell the item on eBay or elsewhere."

Do not wait on Apple. They have nothing to do with this and have little recourse, if any, against the seller. Just report it to eBay, get your refund and move on with life.

If you buy a spigen case at Apple store it costs about 18€ on Amazon is about 8€

A Samsung 8 in store it may go up to 800€ online it could be about 500€

Also on eBay there was a similar action with feedback about the fact that the product was fake and the same cove was sold for about 15€

On the silicon case, on sale from the same seller, the price is like 32€ against 45€ from Apple

I though that maybe the folio was unsold because the majority of people like no folio case better

I can see how you could rationalize some of this, but you got greedy and got burned. Own it.

And this thread is why I like to purchase directly from Apple when It comes to situations like these. I know there are some legitimate deals that have discounts, but I would rather spend the extra money knowingly that I don't have to be inconvenienced because of fraudulent Products.

Apple will do nothing for you. When you buy on eBay, your on your own. All you can do is dispute with PayPal and report to eBay

If you get your money back through PayPal, call it a victory and move on. The eBay fakes are here to stay, sadly.

You can still find decent deals on real Apple stuff on eBay, but you really hafta work at it. By that point, you might as well just pay for the real thing.

Seriously though, don’t pay $100 for the genuine Apple folio case. It’s terrible, and not worth half that. It’s floppy, unwieldy, and has a rubber border around the edge of the leather that is very easy to damage.

Ok, I found an agreement with the seller I will keep the cover and get my money back + an extra cover, he says that did not know it was not genuine and ask my to please not compromise his reputation

And you believe that he accidentally sold you a fake? He knows well what he is doing and is going to give you a real one in exchange for allowing him to continue to sell fakes to others.

So, you will be bought off and let others be victims. Disgusting.

I don’t know if he is saying the truth but he called me up on the phone twice to understand what happened.

He said that, as I can see from his feedback, he has a good reputation and that he will dig with the reseller.

I did a lot more of what the majority of people would do, I called Apple in the first place, I wrote a feedback to Apple, I called eBay and PayPal explaining the all story.

What I’m suppose to do, don’t get my money back? Why? I’m 100% the seller hasn’t be tricked from his reseller?

That disgusting word is not fair.

Well, if he's still selling these fakes next week, you will know whether you enabled a thief.
