Fall detector inactive?

Hello there,

I recently replaced my hard drive in a MacBook Pro for a more performant one and after the previous one started showing defective sectors, and checked the fall detector is reportedly activated. However, when moving the Mac sharply, I don't hear the telltale "click".

How to know if the fall detector is actually parking the head of the drive properly?

What exact HDD model did you get? Some HDD models might conflict with their own protection system with the Sudden Motion Sensor. Here is a link to a way to use Terminal to see if the SMS is active or not: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1935?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

This is a Scorpio Black model WD7500BPKX. And the command reports SMS as active, but I still don't hear any click.
