I just got this over the weekend...
Is it false hope to think that maybe the new iPad Pro will be announced next week as a "Just one more thing"?

Photoshop and after effects video editing etc. Will need a baseline 8GB RAM to function responsively so my next iPad Pro in 2021 needs to have 8GB LPDDR5 RAM. Since Samsung is already putting 12GB LPDDR4 RAM in the Note 10 Plus and is already taking orders specially from Apple for new LPDDR5 RAMI just got this over the weekend...

I must have posted this about a dozen times already, but those who already own the 2018 iPad Pros are NOT the main target market for a 2019 iPad Pro release. You can even argue that the main target market is basically everyone else. The 11 and 12.9 Pro are already insanely powerful beasts. It wouldn’t do much good to release new ones when people who own one spent $1,000+ on their current 2018 Pro. Fork over hundreds of dollars for a new Pro with a 10-15% increase in single-core scores. Doesn’t make sense to me but others have different opinions.

With more RAM the optimised apps can do even more. They are optimised within the limits of the hardware available. They can still be optimised and use more RAM. The adobe software in this case will benefit hugely from this and 8 GB is certainly an enabling point for this software. I can think of CAD software and other high end softwares that can start to make use of the iPad at 8 GB.Why would the iPad 'need' 8GB of RAM when it's running specific optimised apps? Doesn't make sense, these aren't PCs that require a big overhead to run, they're a completely different thing. I think Samsung puts large RAM in their phones because A) they don't control the OS, so need the overhead. And B) I think it's probably cheaper for them to produce certain chips, and claim "WOW, look! So much RAM!".
Also if they do come out with an upgraded iPad, why does everyone assume that people who just brought one will need to fork out money to buy the next? It's not for them, the new iPad is for new users, if they don't upgrade them then the market stagnates. People who just brought one don't need a marginal speed boost, of course some do, but Apple expects those to upgrade on a 2-3 year basis.
I think 6 GB is virtually guaranteed as minimum for the next iPad Pro, but it’s possible a top end model could get 8 GB.With more RAM the optimised apps can do even more. Personally I always really disliked the Android linking of storage and RAM tiers, though I guess it does add value to paying for the higher levels of storage. I wonder if eventually, as iOS (sorry, iPad OS) continues to develop in capabilities if they will start offering RAM as a separate upgrade like with Macs? I guess it wouldn't work quite the same, you'd just have a couple of RAM options, likely in the middle storage tiers - i.e. you could have:I think 6 GB is virtually guaranteed as minimum for the next iPad Pro, but it’s possible a top end model could get 8 GB.
